Gas Emergency
If you smell gas, leave the area immediately.
If You Smell Natural Gas
- 1.Do NOT turn on or off any electrical switches, lights, or appliances.
- 2.Do NOT use your phone inside the building.
- 3.Leave the area immediately and take others with you.
- 4.Once you are safely away, call 911 or Atlanta Gas Light.
Natural gas has an odorant added called mercaptan that gives it a distinctive "rotten egg" smell. This smell is your warning sign of a potential gas leak.
Atlanta Gas Light owns and maintains the gas delivery infrastructure in Georgia. They are responsible for responding to all gas leak emergencies, regardless of which gas marketer you use.
